An intense Kettle Bell 4 week program

Scott Lardella, of RDella Training, has written a good, challenging 4 week KB program based on double KB versions of cleans, presses, front squats, push presses, renegade rows, snatches, swings, clean and squats, long cycle clean and press (may substitute jerks). The program is low in reps (5-10) for a KB program, but adds plenty of volume with rounds. Scott intends for each "round" of exercises from 2 to 5 per session, to be done as a complex, i.e. without rest between exercises, but 1 - 3 minutes rest between rounds. This makes the program a beast.

Scott provides excellent guidance as to the fact this is an intermediate to advanced program, without instruction or pictures in the exercises. And that this is not for beginners. Scott wants you to choose a KB weight at which you will be to comfortably do 5 reps of each of the exercises (not 5 rep max) before starting, and that is good advice. Scott adds some basic nutrition and supplement advice to the book. Scott does have suggestions for beginners and those not yet comfortable with the exercises that make sense. He does state that the program could be done with a single KB, doing the same numbers of reps on each side, but that the results will be different.

This is not a KB instruction manual, nor a beginners guide to the KB. This is just what is advertised - one, 4 week intense KB program. And as such it is very good.

Unrelenting and Efficient

This is one of the first publications from the ranks of Pavel Tsatsouline's new StrongFirst Certified instructors. It is top notch work. For $2.99 this is a steal. I have been working with KBs for about 7 years and this is one of the best programs I've seen in a while.

Great book! I actually do GS style (and as ...

Great book! I actually do GS style (and as a woman compete with one bell), but I find that double kettlebell work REALLY helps with my single kettlebell work. I do the book as written and do it with hardstyle technique as opposed to how I lift when I train my competition lifts. I am used to putting up reps close to the 50's- 100's doing GS with a lighter bell, but there is a time and place to pick up a heavier bell (or shall I say BELLS!) and just do 5-10 reps. I find the double bell work has great carryover and my single bell is feeling lighter! Whoo hoo! The workouts look simple on paper but trust me, don't mistake simple for easy. It's challenging and it works. I will be buying everything Scott Iardella writes from here on out. I am a fan!! Purchasing this is a nobrainer. Inexpensive and a great program to follow. Buy it -you won't be sorry. But you will be stronger!
